The Black and White Box is very proud to announce the arrival of our latest service… Fine Art printing! To make this all possible we’ve also got a new piece of equipment… the Epson 10070 44-inch wide format printer. But what does this mean? Prints bigger than you could ever imagine. From standard A1/A2/A3 print to panoramas, squares and even triangles!
The Epson 10070
This printer is from the latest generation of the photographic Epson range. It runs on the Epson Ultrachrome Pigment 10 Ink system, and with a whopping 4 blacks, those gradations are as smooth as can be. The maximum width we can print on the shortest edge is 44″, but the length can be as loooooong as you like!
Our Process
When you decide to print with us we first consult on the sizing, what the print’s purpose is, the most suitable paper stocks and the pricing of the job. Once those details have been finalised we will prepare your file for print, double checking for any discrepancies and ensuring it is accurately sized. Once printed we leave to dry for 2-4 hours to ensure the ink has cured, before trimming to spec, and lastly being carefully wrapped in tissue paper to ensure that your print arrives in it’s tip-top condition.
Paper Stocks
When it comes to paper, we only want to offer you the best. That’s why we’ve selected the following four brands to offer our fine art services on. These brands are at the cutting edge (pun intended) of paper manufacturing and have amazing reputations and histories behind them. All of these papers are rated to be incredibly archival to museum standards, and when paired with the Ultrachrome inks the 10070 offers, there is no better printing combination than this.
Epson
Ilford
Hahnemühle
Kodak
If there is ever a paper stock you would like us to print on which we don’t offer as a part of our current range, please flick us an email to discuss further. If the job is big enough, we are more than happy to accommodate.
Colours, colours, colours
Due to the nature of transferring a photo from a back-lit monitor to a 2D medium, it is never possible to exactly match a digital file to a print of the same file. However, we will always endeavour and go the extra mile to make sure it is as close as possible.
All of the paper stocks we use have ICC (International Colour Consortium) profiles that have been made specifically for our printer. This ensures screen to print accuracy is on point. And we also calibrate our monitors monthly using the X-Rite i1 Display Pro so that our monitors don’t drift, as they do with time.
If you aren’t sure about how a print is going to come out there are two things you can do, bring the file in store and view the photo on our screens to see how it will compare, or even better, get an A4 test print so you can see in print form the quality and colours.
Pricing
Pricing is all on this page, and if you have any specific sizes or need quotes for jobs, flick us an email or fill out the form here
And don’t forget about the PROMOTION…
To coincide with this exciting addition we are offering HALF PRICE aka 50% OFF on all Fine Art prints (up to A2 in size) until the 6th of July. To get your prints, come in store, send us an email, or head to our contact form!
We can’t wait to start printing with you for your next project, exhibition event, or even just those sentimental memories you want to treasure in print.
