Framing Options

Simple Framing

This style of framing is just the print placed straight in against the glass, taped and strung ready to hang.

Matted Frame

  • This is the most popular method of framing by far, a thick piece of matt board acts as a window for the print to sit within.
  • Creating a space between the image and the glass simply keeps the image flat and archival.
  • The size and colour of the bordering matt surrounding your image can be customised to satisfy your desired outcome.

Setback/Spaced Frame

  • Another way to protect your print without the use of a matt, is to set it directly atop the backing that sits within the frame. By meticulously mounting the image, it sits freely without touching the glass.
  • The colour of the backing, as well as the space between your image and the frame is completely customisable.
  • Besides the unique style of the setback frame, it also serves as highly functional, particularly when choosing to make your print archival.

Floating Frame

  • This effect, displays the whole image as floating amidst the frame, with space between both the backing and glass while exposing the prints seams and edges.

Glass Options

Your decision here will affect two things, how much UV light is let onto the artwork. And how much reflection is seen on the glass. The more UV that is blocked the better, as UV degrades colours and the paper. Over time, indoor and outdoor ultraviolet rays take a toll on artwork and cause fading.

Standard Glass

  • 40-45% UV protection and no anti-reflective coating. This is the most cost-effective way to frame a print

AR70 Glass

  •  Filters 70% of UV rays and provides an almost invisible finish for an exceptional, reflection-free viewing experience. It’s as though there is no glazing in the frame, the finer details of the artwork are easier to see and the colours are more vibrant.

Museum Grade Glass

  • This glass is UV blocking and is also the most anti-reflective glass on the market. When clean it is extremely hard to tell. It blocks 99% of UV rays and is very easy to clean. Ideal for custom framing limited edition prints, original works of art, and posters. It helps protect items of sentimental or monetary value.

Mounting Options

Adhesive Mounting

  • Adhesive mounting boards mean that when a print is stuck down. It creates a permanent bond that strengthens over time. Mounting this way means you get an extremely flat mount with zero creases or bowing. Ideal for mounting posters, inexpensive prints, photographs, art and anything that isn’t 1/1 or can be reprinted again. It is an acid-free adhesive, and the board and foam are buffered pH-neutral surfaces.

Hinge Mounting

  • Hinge mounting is a process that is 100% reversible. If you are dealing with highly valuable or sentimental pieces of art that can never be pre-produced again this is the way to go. If any issues happen during the mounting process they can be rectified easily.
  • One downside to this method is that the print will never lay as flat as an adhesive-mounted print as it is not stuck down fully.
